Fitted Cloth Nappies

Best Performance

Fitted Cloth Nappies

What is a Fitted Nappy?

  • A two piece cloth nappy system (3 pieces if you are using a liner)
  • The Fitted Nappy is the absorbent part and the wrap / Cover is the waterproof part.
  • 100% bomb proof against newborn explosions

Features:

No Folding Required.

Double Containment Layer - provides optimum fit on all baby shapes.

1 or 2 Sizes of Fitted Nappy and 2 - 3 sizes in Cover / Wrap - to go from birth to potty (Depending on Brand)

Fabrics:

Fitted Nappy - Cotton, Bamboo, Synthetic or combinations.

Waterproof Outer / Cover - PUL (Laminated Polyester), Fleece or Wool.

Info:

A fitted nappy is one where the nappy has elastic around the waist and legs of the nappy which is why it is called a fitted nappy then the cover / wrap goes over the top.

A fitted nappy combined with the correct size cover / wrap could be expected to last around 4+ hours and with additional boosters / inserts should be able to easily last overnight. They are the most absorbent nappy for night times and generally give the best overall containment for newborns because of the 2 leak guards. Depending on the design and the fabrics used, they can take longer to dry than other styles.

Pros:

They contain poo better than other nappy systems and may out perform disposables because it uses a Separate cover
There are a huge number of fabrics to choose from
The cover can be re-used if it is clean when you change the nappy so you are not washing the waterproof part more than necessary
They fit any shaped baby
They easily last through the sleep, feed, play, change and sleep routine
You can get birth to potty sized nappies
The whole nappy is absorbent
Different fastening systems: Aplix/Velcro, Poppers or Nappi Nippas

Cons:

They are more expensive than flat nappies
They may take longer to dry depending on the absorbent fabric
You need to put on two pieces - the cover and the nappy.

Tips:

You get what you pay for.

Note: If the waterproof outer is clean when you change the nappy you can keep re-using it over and over again by just putting on a clean fitted nappy
